Summer School for Beginners during  July  & August 2010

Welcome to the JURASSIC COAST

Monday 2nd Aug to Friday 6th Aug

My studio in Seaton is in the middle of the World Heritage Site, so we will be using the area to help us be creative with stained glass.

This intensive course has been specially designed by Ann to cover all aspects of stained glass making, with lots of hands-on practice. Following a brief history and overview of the various stained glass techniques used over the years, you will be shown how to create working drawings of designs, copied or your own creation.

Time will be spent learning and practicing how to cut glass, how to use lead and copper foil, how to solder and how to finish your work to professional standards. You will also learn about different types of glass and the way they can most effectively be used. There will also be an opportunity to learn about etching and kiln work.

This is England's first natural World Heritage Site, and is known as the 'Jurassic Coast'. The Site includes 95 miles (155 km) of unspoilt cliffs and beaches from Exmouth in East Devon, through West Dorset, Weymouth and Portland, ending near Old Harry Rocks in Purbeck.

The Dorset and East Devon Coast is beautiful, so you may want to explore the area during the summer evenings, after class.

Things to bring for the course:
Note paper, pen and coloured pencils. An apron, rubber gloves & protective glasses. Time of course 9.30 to 4.30 Monday to Friday. Tea coffee & biscuits supplied through out the day. A BBQ will be held on beach on Wednesday, weather permitting.

Course fees £150 + £25 materials for beginners.

Stained Glass Course

Puy Roger is a tiny hamlet on the border of Haute-Vienne and Creuse where life is led at a gentle pace.  The house is a typical Limousin belle maison and offers a comfortable and tranquil setting.  The bed- rooms are comfortably furnished and each room has exquisite views of the garden or parkland.  This is an unspoilt region of France, of wooded hills, green valleys and cool lakes.
